This is my new stamp for my cake boxes.
I got it just in time...to stop making cakes. Yes, that's right. I am going to be taking a long awaited break starting at the first of the year. I have 3, count them, 3 cakes left to fill. I plan on taking off for a year or two, at least until Holden can cooperate while I am in the kitchen. I will let everyone know when I am back in the swing of things (some wish sooner than later :) ) Until then, enjoy the last 3 posts of the year and I will see you some time in the future. :)

Hey, sorry to hear you are taking a break, but totaly understand you are a mommy first. I always look to your work for ideas and am going to miss that. I wish you all the best. I do have a question for you, if you would like to share a tip, HOw do you thin your icing for filling in drawings, corn syrup or milk / water. Also, for this wedding cake, did you free hand it or use a stencil? It is perfect, great work.
ReplyDeleteSweetalainas, I use piping gel to thin icing for piping detail (like the black on the wedding cake) but will use extra milk to make a batch thinner. As for the wedding cake, I used a scroll press/stencil for the base of the design and then added to it. It wasn't perfect, but at least it let me be consistant.
ReplyDeleteI will miss your posts you are truly an inspiration to me and I hope I get as good as you when working with buttercream. Happy Holidays to you and your family and a prosperous new year.
